Raising uncluttered kids - Part 1

We got carried away and talked so much about uncluttering kids this week that we had to chop the episode into 2 parts!
Part 1 talks about why kids are cluttered and why it might be a good idea to change that.
Tara and Bec discuss Peaches and Cream Barbie and some of the parenting techniques they've used to keep the clutter monster at bay.

Show notes:

  • "For some people buying toys for their children or buying stuff for their children is their way of saying 'I love you'." Tara

  • "It's only after we start giving them gifts because we love them that they start to equate stuff with love." Bec

  • British Telegraph: Average Child has 238 toys but plays with just 12 daily.

  • "Don't raise your kids to have more than you had. Raise them to be more than you were." Unknown

  • Article: "Here's what happened when we took our kids toys away for a month."

  • Article: German Kindergartens Ban Toys

  • "An easy or transactional way to say to your child 'I love you' or 'I value you' is Have this. " Tara

  • "The more they have, the less grateful they are." Bec
