Wardrobe/ closet decluttering & organising
Week 2 of Wardrobe Month has us all diving into our wardrobes and closets and figuring out what to keep and what to toss, and how to put it all back together again in an organised fashion.
As usual, there's a few ways to approach this so you'll get some tips and hints so you can figure out the best way that suits you.
Show Notes:
Declutter first:
Most of us wear 20% of our clothing 80% of the time
Make decluttering fun- do it with a friend or professional
You can take everything out at once or go section by section
Try physically handle items
Piles to sort into
Keep
Donate
Trash
Sell
Questions to ask yourself:
When was the last time I wore this?
When will I wear it again?
Would I buy it today if i saw it in store?
Will someone else get more pleasure out of this than me?
Does it represent my current sense of style?
Is it damaged - will I fix it?
Does it fit?
Do I love it?
Do I feel great wearing it?
Ways to sort
By colour
By clothing type
By occasion
The hanger trick - backwards/ forwards as you use (find out what you don't wear)
Principles of organising
Group like with like
Frequent use in prime areas
Stock like a supermarket shelf - most used at eye level, lesser used at top and bottom
Rotate seasons
